Busy like a bee
It's been an action packed weekend... I went to bed last night feeling like I hadn't stopped for a second. But it was good action.
On Saturday Ben I went to listen to the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (BSO)at the Thai National Theatre, a bit of Brahms and a bit of Sibelius (Symphony No. 2 which is one of my favourites). Some people think that classical music is for old people and boring people or for pretencious people. I just find some of it beautiful and I just enjoy it - that's it... simple. So, technically I'm boring... a right fuddy duddy and I wear comfortable shoes (ok, I don't, but I should do). Ha!
Anyway, first of all I'm used to going to the Proms in London at the Royal Albert Hall or going to the Royal Festival Hall or Wigmore Hall on Welbeck Street. What I'm trying to say is that I'm a spoilt brat when it comes to classical music. Therefore my BSO experience was a little disappointing. I was expecting grandeur, class and... uhm good music. Instead I got something a little lacklustre, a few off keys and doormen with loud walkie talkies. The lack of umph by the musicians (apart from the over enthusiastic brass section) and the tacky BSO name up on the wall in royal blue in one of those horrendous fonts (blackletter if I'm not wrong) were kind of deflating of the whole experience.
But these are small things and I enjoyed it and the music was OK, I just shouldn't have held my expectations up there in the sky.
Then yesterday I just didn't STOP. It was one major shopping day and after the great idea to sell my brand new (coz the last one broke and the warranty gave me a new one!) super duper ZEN Touch 20 Gig MP3 player (it's too big for what I need) to get myself a cute little iPod mini, coz I'm a slave to all things cool and cliched. So, yesterday was spent just hunting out there for a pink one. Check it out... I lurrrrve it.

Beautiful, huh? I even got special iPod socks for it. Oh, my Apple obsessed brother would be SO proud of his little sister right now.
So, I got home and then I had to fill it with music. Back at Christmas I did a late 70's compilation. Now, I'm working on an 80's compilation and boy is that nostalgic or what. I was on allofmp3 listening to samples of stuff I hadn't heard in like 17 years! Rendez Vous by Jean Michel Jarre, Loaded by Deacon Blue and many others. But those two in particular really took me back. It was a weird but very nice feeling. I downloaded 40 tracks and tonight I'm organising myself some very cool playlists.
