A Daily Dose of Words

?

I remember after 9/11 that walking around London felt a little intimidating. The police were everywhere and quite often you'd see one, two, three policecars racing by. Everyone was talking about possible attacks in the underground and for a few weeks it just didn't feel comfortable commuting to work. But everything bounced back and London was once again it's lively self. And yesterday watching the news seeing London so happy to have been voted for the 2012 Olympics it reminded me of what it's like to live there. The contrast with today's events, however, has been drastic. From people drinking out of champagne bottles in Trafalger Square to scenes of commuters looking shocked coming out of the underground stations. It's taken 4 years but everyone knew that sooner or later there was going to be a terror attack in London. I'm glad that I wasn't there to be part of it. I'm glad that the people I know in London are all OK. I'm glad that my closest friends don't live in London, some of them having moved away in the past two years, and I'm sorry for everyone that had to go through this today.

But like Tony Blair said in his speech from 10 Downing Street we've just got to keep on living our lives as before, otherwise they win. The bastards.
